Today, we’re going to make hand puppets. This is a quick and easy project that only requires a few supplies. Not only can you get the little ones involve in making the sock puppet, but they’ll have hours of fun playing with them.
They come together easily, so you can make different ones. Let the kids get creative and help them bring their imagination to life.
Materials:
- sock
- hot glue gun and glue sticks
- felt or cloth (assorted colors)
- pom poms
- cardboard
- yarn for the hair (optional)

Step 1. Cut an oval piece of cardboard about the width of the sock
Step 2. Chose a piece of cloth for the mouth. Put the cardboard onto the cloth and cut out an oval about 5cm larger than the cardboard.
Step 3. Using the hot glue gun, glue the cloth on the the cardboard. Fold the cloth over the edge and glue it down.
Step 4. Fold the cardboard with the cloth in half with the cloth on inside.
Step 5. Cut off the toe portion of the sock. Roll the end of the sock over the cardboard and glue it in place.
Step 6. Decorate with your kids! Glue the pom poms for the eye and a small piece of cloth for the tongue. I used yarn for the hair.
